About the Artist: Brenda Colley

"The eyes are the windows of the soul"  This statement is as true for pets and animals as of  people.  When creating a portrait, the eyes are most important.  This is where I focus my attention."

Brenda has always had a passion for art and nature.  "Artist" was not considered a career, even though she showed considerable artistic talent at an early age.  She studied to become a veterinary technician.  Using sketching as a study tool during college, she built an intimate understanding of the anatomy and physiology of various animals. She worked only in graphite for many years.  She now works in various media, including Watercolour, Acrylic, Oils and Pastels.Brenda continues to support many conservation and animals rescue organizations through her generous donations of art, such as Ducks Unlimited, Humane Society, World Wildlife Fund and Ontario Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Network (O.W.R.E.N.), as well as local rescue shelters.

Brenda possess the uncanny ability to capture the spirit of the animals she paints.  She not only paints dogs and cats, but horses, birds and wildlife as well.  So whether your pet has paws, fins or feathers, Brenda can create a lifelike portrait rich with the personality and essence of your pet.

“ I understand how important it is not only to capture the physical appearance but the spirit as well.  I attempt to bring out the personality and expressively unique characteristics of every animal I paint.”
